National Volunteer Week 2013
National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia.
In 2013, National Volunteer Week will be held from 13 to 19 May and the theme is “Thanks a Million”.
The week provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say a collective thank you to the 6 million Australians who volunteer each year.
Volunteers, not-for-profit organisations and members of the public are encouraged to share their volunteering stories and messages of thanks on Facebook and Twitter.
GoVolunteer, the national portal for volunteering opportunities, will also be launching a new volunteer profile tool to help people find volunteering roles that best match their skills and interests.
Celebration events and award ceremonies for outstanding volunteers will be held across the country. For more information about events in your area, and to download or purchase promotional materials for National Volunteer Week, please visit the Volunteering Australia website or find Volunteering Australia on Facebook and Twitter (@VolunteeringAus and #NVW2013).
